Tues Aug 5th: Meatless Burger?

Just wanted to give you a bit more on diet today, seeing as I told you to lock it in previously. Unfortunately, when people start to try and eat healthy, they get fooled by marketing and “common knowledge” and reach for some things that aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Case in point: soy. The Modern Forager dispels some of the soy hype.

Feel betrayed? Feel confused? “But they said soy was good for me! How will I know what to eat now?” It’s easy. If it grows or gallops, and you could conceivably eat it in its natural state, then chow down. Try to eliminate or cut back on things that must be processed for you to ingest them to any nutritional benefit (grains and soy are good examples). You can’t just roll up on a soy plant and eat it raw, trust me on that. When’s the last time you saw a bale of wheat at the salad bar? We’ll get more into grains later.

Before you start spouting about having to cook meat, let me say that if the animal led a clean natural life, and if you use clean butchering practices, most if not all meat would be very safe to eat raw.

See you this afternoon!
